Frankfort, Kentucky
I run two small businesses out of Frankfort, Kentucky. Here's who I am, how I work, and what happens when you call.
I'm based in Frankfort, Kentucky, in Franklin County, and both of my businesses operate from here.
Level Up Technologies is the technology side. I work with small businesses across Central Kentucky on the practical technology their day-to-day depends on — business networking and Wi-Fi, managed IT and computer support, Google Workspace and business email, website design and hosting, Starlink installation where wired service can't reach, and automation for the repetitive work that eats a small team's week.
Level Up Rentals is vehicle rental, serving Frankfort and Central Kentucky with delivery to the Louisville, Lexington and Cincinnati airports and to most places within about fifty miles of town.
Two different businesses, one common thread: they're both service businesses in a small market, where the work you did last month is the reason you get called this month.
Level Up Technologies is owner-operated, and that's the whole point of it. When a client calls, they reach me. There's no ticket system to escalate through, no script, and no account manager relaying messages to somebody you'll never meet.
I don't require a monthly agreement before I'll take a call. Some clients keep me on a regular basis because it suits how they operate. Others call once a year when something breaks. Both are fine.
A fair amount of small-business technology spending goes on things that don't move the needle. If you ask me about something and my honest answer is that you don't need it, that's the answer you'll get. I'd rather lose a line item than sell you something you'll resent paying for.
Plenty of problems can be sorted out over a remote session, and when that's true it's faster for everyone. But networking problems in particular tend to be physical — a bad run, a switch in a cupboard, an access point mounted somewhere it can't do its job. I come out.
Mostly small operations in and around Franklin County — contractors, shops, clinics, service companies, offices of a handful of people. Businesses big enough that technology failing costs them real money, but not big enough to employ someone to look after it.
That's a specific kind of customer, and it shapes how I price and how I work. If you have an internal IT department, I'm probably not the right fit. If you've been getting by on whoever in the office is best with computers, I probably am.
Service area: Frankfort, Georgetown, Versailles, Lawrenceburg, Shelbyville, Midway and Lexington — onsite. Remote support anywhere.
